A Powerful Reminder for Anyone Feeling Overwhelmed

Have you ever gone through a challenging season and before you know it, life becomes all consuming? Somehow you’ve lost your way, but because you’re in it, you don’t fully realize what’s happening. One day leads into the next, days become weeks, weeks become months, and there you are on that hamster wheel going round and round, forgetting that you are still in the driver’s seat of your life and your creation, even when it doesn’t feel that way.
A lot of people are living their lives from this place. I know because I’ve been one of them these last couple of months.
I found myself focused on weekly responsibilities and navigating one challenge after another. Then the weekends rolled around and even that time already felt spoken for with commitments and obligations. It became clear to me that I was moving through life simply fulfilling responsibilities, with little space for joy, presence, or fulfillment in between.
While these times can feel incredibly challenging, they are also purposeful. Challenges serve a purpose. But when we lose connection with our intuition, it’s easy to fall into the trap of feeling like a victim of life versus the creator of it.
That’s why it’s so important to nurture the relationship you have with yourself and your inner guidance, just like you would any relationship that deeply matters to you. It’s also why I teach this in my 90 day coaching program, Beyond Limits. Life becomes much more empowering when we can begin to understand the bigger picture and bring meaning to what we’re experiencing.
That being said, we don’t always receive the meaning upfront. Sometimes we move through periods of frustration, uncertainty, or feeling disempowered so we can remember what we forgot, just how strong, courageous, intuitive, and wise we truly are. Sometimes the challenge itself is what brings us back home to ourselves. It becomes a remembrance of the truth of who we are.
As I was navigating my way through these challenges and learning to trust God, life, and myself again, I spent a couple of days doing things that genuinely made me happy, things I hadn’t prioritized in a long while.
One beautiful day, I met one of my best friends, Isaac, for a hike in the Santa Monica Mountains. Afterward, we spent hours in deep conversation over lunch. Because of his kind heart, I always feel safe to simply be myself around him, and I always leave feeling lighter and more connected. That’s what genuine connection does for us.
Later that day, I took my dogs, Lilly and Shelby, for a long walk through the park. There was nowhere I needed to be, just fully present, watching their tails wag as they stopped to smell everything in sight while we soaked in the warmth of the sun together.
I ended the evening playing pickleball with a wonderful group of women and found myself laughing, energized, and fully alive again.
By the end of the day, my energy had completely shifted. I realized what had been missing. I became very clear that these are the kinds of experiences that lift me out of the fog when life feels heavy, the things that raise my vibration, reconnect me to myself, and create space for clarity to come back in.
Over the following days, my family and I rode bikes along the beach, one of my favorite things to do, spent mornings walking the shoreline, and celebrated meaningful moments together as a family.
These experiences created powerful a ha moments for me. They reminded me that I am the creator of my life experience. That no matter what is happening externally, I always have the ability to shift my energetic state, just as you do.
Even during the most challenging seasons, you can create meaningful shifts in your experience simply by becoming aware of what brings you joy and intentionally making space for more of it.
Getting Clear Exercise
I want to encourage you to take a few moments today and bring your awareness into your heart as you focus on your breath.
Breathe slowly in and out through your heart space for at least five minutes.
Then ask yourself:
What do I need more of in my life to create greater balance, joy, fulfillment, peace, or connection?
Allow your heart to show you.
Write down whatever comes through, whether it’s a feeling, activity, experience, relationship, or something your soul has been quietly asking for.
Think of this as creating a toolkit you can return to whenever you find yourself back on that hamster wheel, feeling disconnected or overwhelmed.
The moment you notice yourself feeling less fulfilled, revisit your list and begin honoring what your heart showed you. Your heart always knows what is most aligned for you.
Remember to…
Connect with your intuition. Allow it to help you see the higher purpose in what life is presenting to you.
And revisit your heart’s list often. Then go out and do more of what brings you joy.
Your energy matters.
Your alignment matters.
And the way you choose to move through life matters too.
Share with me…
What did your heart show you?
Have you been following your heart’s guidance lately?
I read all of my emails and would truly love to hear from you.
